Description

Ghasyari Homestay, Sunkiya, Mukteshwar

Ghasyari Homestay is a women-led community homestay initiative in Sunkiya village near Mukteshwar, Nainital, offering an authentic and meaningful Kumaoni village experience. Away from busy tourist areas, the homestay is reached through a scenic 15 to 20-minute walk from the road, adding to the peaceful and offbeat charm of the stay.

Here, guests stay in traditional village homes surrounded by forests, orchards, farms and beautiful Himalayan views. The experience is rooted in simple living, local culture and genuine community hospitality. The traditional mud and stone homes, local Aipan art, clean rooms and peaceful surroundings offer a glimpse into the everyday life of Kumaoni families.

Food is an important part of the experience. Guests can enjoy fresh, home-cooked Kumaoni meals prepared with locally grown and organic ingredients. From traditional recipes and chulha-cooked rotis to seasonal vegetables and fresh produce from the farms, every meal reflects the region's culinary traditions.

Ghasyari also gives visitors an opportunity to participate in village life. Depending on the season, guests can experience farming, gardening, harvesting vegetables, orchard walks and foraging for local fruits such as kaafal. Village walks, nature exploration, interaction with local women and learning about traditional Kumaoni practices make the stay more than just accommodation.

The warmth of the host families is what truly makes Ghasyari special. Guests are welcomed with genuine care and often leave with a deeper connection to the people, culture and landscape of the region.

Whether you are looking for a peaceful retreat, a digital detox, authentic Kumaoni food, rural tourism, sustainable travel or an opportunity to reconnect with nature, Ghasyari Homestay offers a slow and grounded Himalayan experience.
